The entire Book of Allaah is a cure and mercy for believers. Allaah Says (what means): {Say, 'It is, for those who believe, a guidance and cure."}[Quran 41:44] Therefore, a Muslim should recite the Quran in general as much as possible, but some chapters were reported to have some special excellence because of being a Ruqyah or a cure, like chapter Al-Faatihah (the opening chapter of the Quran) and chapters 113 and 114.

The Prophet said about chapters 113 and 114: “The best way of seeking refuge in Allaah (from any evil) is by reciting chapters 113 and 114.”

Therefore, whoever is afflicted, be it with a disease or the like, he should recite the Quran as much as he can, especially chapters Al-Faatihah, 113 and 114, and he/she will find a cure and a blessing in it, Allaah willing.

Being cursed –we seek refuge in Allaah from it –is to be deprived of the mercy of Allaah. Cursing a non-Muslim is absolutely distancing him from the mercy of Allaah. Distancing a dissolute person is preventing him from a mercy that is destined for obedient people only.

In order to be saved from the curse of Allaah, one should attain faith, perform good deeds and stay away from anything that incurs the curse of Allaah.

For more benefit on being patient when afflicted, please refer to Fatwa 83577.

Allaah Knows best.
